The best way to sum up Sokol’s style is as “colorful watercolor cartoon vignettes, featuring beautifully drawn ladies.” This signature Sokol style would later be recognized as a staple sex cartoon amongst the pages of Playboy.
A great artist, with a strong sense of light and color, Sokol would create atmosphere’s in his art that would draw the eye in to examine every touch of color and curve that was present in each piece.
Sokol died on February 20th, 2003 at the age of 69. 10 years after his death, Sokol’s work still draws in new audiences and creates new fans from them.
